Lady Wildcats win at home against CNE
Showcasing how improved they’ve become over the past couple seasons, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats added a solid non-conference win to their resumé on Wednesday, Dec. 20 by defeating the Clermont Northeastern Lady Rockets, 59-23.
In the win, the first quarter consisted of Whiteoak outscoring the Lady Rockets, 19-7, and the second frame saw WHS win the frame 14-6 for a 33-13 halftime lead.
It was more of the same in the second half as Whiteoak scored 16 points in the third and added 10 points in the fourth quarter. CNE scored three points in the third frame and finished the final quarter with another seven points to their total.
Kylee Hamm led WHS with 13 points in the win. Hamm totaled three two-point baskets and was 7-of-12 from the free-throw line. Lydia Carr followed with 10 points, making five two-point field goals.
The rest of the Whiteoak scoring consisted of Jaylie Parr (nine), Addison Roberts (seven), Bri Hill (six), Kelsey Monteith (five), Molly McMullen (five), Torie Potts (two) and Keira Campbell (two).
WHS made three 3-pointers in the win, those from Parr, Monteith and Roberts. The Lady ’Cats finished 12-of-22 from the free-throw line, and also collected 36 rebounds, 18 assists, 16 steals and a block by Potts.
Carr led Whiteoak with seven rebounds, and next was Parr with six boards. Potts was the assists leader with four, and the steals leader was Monteith with four.
As a team, the Lady ’Cats shot 42.3 percent from the field.
The win moved WHS to 8-2 overall, and they are currently 5-0 in SHAC games.
