Izayah Clift K’s 18 batters in Whiteoak extra-inning win against Fayetteville

Playing at their home field as the away team due to field conditions at Fayetteville, the Whiteoak Wildcats defeated the Rockets by a 2-1 score in nine innings Tuesday in a game that included a complete nine-inning, 18-strikeout pitching performance from Izayah Clift.
Whiteoak was first to score a run in the top of the second as Christian Hite scored the first run off a fielder’s choice hit into by Gabe Michael for the 1-0 lead.
The Wildcats earned the win with a run in the top of the ninth as Karson Arey scored a run by stealing home for the eventual 2-1 final score.
On the mound, it was the pitching performance by Izayah Clift that was outstanding as the junior pitched nine innings, allowing no earned runs on four hits and no walks with the aforementioned 18 strikeouts.
Abe Flader led WHS with two hits at 2-for-4, while next was Arey at 1-for-3 with one walk. Clift went 1-for-2 with a SAC and one steal.
Hite finished 1-for-2 with a run, and two walks. WHS also saw Josiah Michael go 1-for-4 with a steal. Lucas Pollard finished 1-for-4 with a run, a double and a steal. Jacob Kiley was hit by a pitch.
