Eastern wins at home over Whiteoak

Tuesday (Dec. 16) saw the Whiteoak Wildcats drop a Southern Hills Athletic Conference road game to the Eastern Warriors, 69-47 as the Warriors defended their home court. 

Eastern had an outstanding first frame, taking a 20-9 lead after eight minutes of action. The second frame was much closer as EHS won the quarter scoring at 13-10, giving them a 33-19 halftime lead. 

The second half had a third frame where Eastern scored 19 points and the Wildcats added 16 points to their total, while the fourth quarter saw the Warriors cap off the SHAC win with another 17 points to their final total in the fourth frame, while Whiteoak scored 12 points in that same final frame. 

Whiteoak was led in the scoring column by Brady Brandenburg with 13 points, as he made two 3-pointers, three two-point buckets and he made one free throw. Brandenburg added two rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Carson Hart scored eight points, as he made a 3-pointer, a two-point basket and was 3-of-4 from the free-throw line. Hart also collected five rebounds and one assist. 

Jason Gaskins totaled eight points with two 3-pointers, and he was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Gaskins also had a rebound. 

Scoring seven points each were Sawyer Blair and Christopher Wessner. Blair made one 3-pointer, one two-point basket and he also had two rebounds, two assists and a block. Wessner finished with two 3-pointers and was 1-of-2 from the free-throw line, while also grabbing three rebounds. Lucas Pollard ended the game with four points off two baskets, plus he added one assist and one steal  

As a team, Whiteoak finished with eight 3-pointers, eight two-point baskets, and they were 7-of-12 from the free-throw line. WHS also had 13 rebounds (six offensive), seven assists, three steals, one block and they had seven turnovers. 

Matthew Dick led Eastern with 24 points and nine rebounds. Chase Pinkerton totaled 14 points, and Carter Cluxton had 11 points. The rest of Eastern’s scoring included Kayne Dotson (7), Sam Ramer (6), Braxton Vance (3) and Henry Foebar (4). 

EHS had totals of four 3-pointers, 25 two-point baskets, and they were 7-of-12 from the free-throw line. Eastern also had 32 rebounds (10 offensive), 16 assists, five steals, four blocks, plus they had nine turnovers. 

With the win, the Warriors are now 3-0 in the SHAC Division I standings and 3-0 overall. Whiteoak moves to 1-2 in the SHAC Div. II standings and 1-3 overall. 


WHS is scheduled to play again Friday, Dec. 19 on the road at Fayetteville in a SHAC contest. Eastern is scheduled to play again also Friday (Dec. 19) at home against the West Union Dragons.
