Mustangs drop non-conference game to New Richmond

The New Richmond Lions hosted the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs Friday evening as they defeated LCHS 5-4 in the non-conference contest.
LCHS totaled nine hits and no errors. New Richmond had 10 hits and four errors.
Lynchburg-Clay scored all four of their runs in the top of the fourth as they took a 4-2 lead , while New Richmond scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
The Lions tied the score with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, followed by the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Kristian Beachy was 2-for-3 with one run, a double and one RBI. Tristan Puckett was 2-for-3 with a double.
Elam Faust finished 1-for-4 with two steals. Quin Wells was 1-for-4 with a run. Trevor Niehaus finished the game at 1-for-3 with a run, one RBI and a triple.
Harley Lewis went 1-for-3 as he scored a run, collected an RBI and had a triple. Max Baker was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Aric Slack forced a walk, and teammate Luke Davis had a steal.
Puckett pitched five innings for the no-decision as he finished with two strikeouts. Slack pitched one inning in relief.
LCHS now has an overall record of 18-6 this season.
The Mustangs are scheduled to face the Fairfield Lions in a non-conference game on Monday, May 18 at 5 p.m. at LCHS.
LCHS will open district tournament play on Thursday, May 21 at home against a TBD opponent at 5 p.m.
