Lynchburg-Clay softball sweeps Peebles; improves to 12-3 overall

This past Monday and Tuesday, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs kept the top spot in Division I of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference standings by defeating the Peebles Lady Indians on consecutive nights by scores of 7-3 and 12-2 in a home-and-home series.
On Monday (April 21) the Lady Mustangs scored all their runs in the first three innings, with three runs in the bottom of the first, followed by two runs in the second and two more runs in the bottom of the third. LCHS ended the game with six hits and had two errors.
Peebles scored one of their runs in the top of the fourth, followed with two runs in the top of the seventh. The Lady Indians finished with eight hits and committed four errors.
Noel Barnhill was the winning pitcher. Pitching a complete game, Barnhill went all seven innings in the circle, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits and no walks. She also ended the game with eight strikeouts.
Five Lynchburg-Clay batters had at least one hit in thew SHAC win on Monday with Caitlyn Collins finishing 2-for-4 with one run, as one of her hits was a double.
Audrey Barry went 1-for-4 with one run, and teammate Sophia Michael finished 1-for-4 with a run.
Barnhill went 1-for-2 with one RBI and a walk, and Kami Collins finished the game at 1-for-3.
Reese Ruble collected two RBI and scored a run. Aubrey Roberts totaled one RBI. Lily Ferguson ended the game with one run. Jazmine Brown finished with one walk.
Baylee McClain, Brown, Michael, Ruble (two), Caitlyn Collins, Kami Collins and Barry all were credited with stolen bases.

On the next day (Tuesday, April 22), the Lady Mustangs of Lynchburg-Clay won the Southern Hills Athletic Conference game by a 12-2 score in seven innings at Peebles High School.
This game, the Lady Mustangs totaled 12 hits to go with their 12 runs, but they also committed five errors. Peebles had five hits and committed four errors.
Noel Barnhill had a big game at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with a double, triple and home run, as she ended the game with a total of four runs, three RBI and a walk.
Caitlyn Collins finished 1-for-4 with a run and a stolen base. Sophia Michael ended the day at 1-for-4 with three runs.
Reese Ruble for LCHS was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base. Aubrey Roberts finished the game at 1-for-3 with a run and a walk.
Avery Blankenship had one hit for the Lady Mustangs, as she was 1-for-2 with a double and one RBI. Kami Collins also had a hit for LCHS, going 1-for-3.
Madison McMullen was 1-for-1 in her at-bat, and she hit a double, plus she had two RBI in the Lynchburg-Clay victory. Lily Ferguson was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Baylee McClain was also 1-for-2 as she hit a double, with one run scored, and she had an RBI.
Roberts was the winning pitcher, finishing with seven innings pitched. She allowed two runs (none earned) on five hits and no walks. Roberts totaled five strikeouts in the win.
LCHS now stands at 12-3 overall, and they are 7-1 in the Division I SHAC standings for first place.
