Lynchburg-Clay FFA to host school cornhole tournament
On Dec. 20, during school, the Lynchburg-Clay FFA is hosting a cornhole tournament.
Over the last few years, the FFA, along with the FFA Alumni, used to host a community basketball tournament to raise money for the Greg Wilkin Memorial Scholarship. Due to the lack of local participation, FFA officers chose to host a school-based event to raise awareness within the high school community in the basketball tournament’s place.
Students and staff have been invited to create teams and pay $20/team to participate in the tournament. Our goal is to have at least 50 teams sign up to raise $1000 for the scholarship fund. The winning team will receive a banner and bragging rights for next year.
All proceeds from the Greg Wilkin Memorial Tournament will benefit the Greg Wilkin Memorial Scholarship that is awarded to graduating FFA members of Lynchburg-Clay FFA pursing a degree in agriculture. The scholarship fund was created in 1984 in honor of former FFA member Greg Wilkin, who was tragically killed in a farming accident.
This tournament event is the only form of fundraising that creates funding for the scholarship.
Monetary donations can be sent to the Lynchburg-Clay FFA Alumni, 6762 S.R. 134 South, Lynchburg, Ohio 45142 to benefit the scholarship fund.
