LC’s Kristian Beachy tosses no-hitter against Eastern; Mustangs win weekend DH over Adena

The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs earned three wins in a three-day stretch as they defeated the Eastern Warriors on Thursday evening at EHS, followed by two wins on Saturday against the Adena Warriors at AHS in a doubleheader.
In Thursday’s win (April 2), the Mustangs won by an 18-1 score for a five-inning run-rule win, which included a five-inning no-hitter pitched by sophomore Kristian Beachy. With 73 pitches, Beachy went five innings on the mound, where he allowed no hits and no earned runs with three walks. Beachy finished the no-hitter with eight strikeouts, facing 19 total batters.
Beachy also had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, seven RBI, a steal, a double and a sacrifice fly.
Quin Wells was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs, one hit-by-pitch, two RBI and a walk.
Elam Faust finished 2-for-3 with four runs, two hit by pitches, three steals and one RBI. Caden Boone was 2-for-4 with a double, two steals, and he was hit by a pitch. Aric Slack was 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, two walks and a steal.
Trevor Niehaus finished 1-for-3 with one run and a steal. Tanner Roberts was 1-for-3 with two runs, a double and a steal. Aiden Bene finished the game at 1-for-1 with one run.
Lynchburg-Clay’s Max Baker was 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI as he hit a home run.
Alex Van Fleet scored a run and forced a walk. Harley Lewis scored one run, and Tristian Puckett collected an RBI and had a sacrifice fly.
For the game, LCHS totaled 15 hits and had one error, while EHS committed seven errors.
LCHS scored four runs in the top of the first, followed by three runs in the second, eight runs in the third, one run in the fourth and two runs in the top of the fifth. Eastern scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

On Saturday, the Mustangs won game one of their doubleheader against the Adena Warriors at AHS by a 6-4 score in nine-innings, and in the second game the Mustangs dominated with a 20-6 victory.
Game one saw LCHS trail 2-1 after the first inning, and the Mustangs tied the score at 2-2 with a run in the top of the third. In the top of the fourth inning, LCHS scored two runs for a 4-4 score. The game went into extra innings where the Mustangs gained the win with two runs in the top of the ninth for what became a 6-4 non-conference victory.
LCHS finished the game with 10 hits and four errors, while the Warriors had three hits and two errors.
Quin Wells was 3-for-4 with three runs, one RBI, two steals and a walk, as one of Wells’ hits was a triple.
Kristian Beachy finished 2-for-5 with one run, two RBI, and he hit a double.
Elam Faust was 1-for-5 with one run, Max Baker finished 1-for-3 and was hit by a pitch. Trevor Niehaus was 1-for-4 with one RBI, one steal and was hit by a pitch. Aric Slack finished the game 1-for-4 with one run. Harley Lewis was hit by a pitch.
Niehaus was the winning pitcher by throwing four innings, allowing no earned runs on no hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Roberts pitched five innings, allowing one earned run on three hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

In game two of the doubleheader, Lynchburg-Clay defeated Adena 20-6 in six innings.
LCHS led 2-0 after the first inning, then after each team scored a run in the second, Adena took a 4-3 lead after scoring three runs in the bottom of the third.
LCHS came back with two runs in the fourth, while Adena scored one run in the bottom of the inning for a 5-5 tied score.
Lynchburg-Clay dominated the final two innings with the game ending after six innings due collecting eight runs in the top of the fifth, and followed that with six runs in the top of the sixth. Adena scored one final run in the bottom of the sixth.
The Mustangs finished the non-conference win with 12 hits and one error, while Adena had nine hits and three errors.
Wells had another strong game, finishing 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI and a walk, plus one of his hits was a home run, and he was also hit by a pitch and had a sacrifice fly. Wells also collected three steals.
Harley Lewis was 2-for-3 with two runs, one RBI and two steals. Luke Davis finished 2-for-2 with three runs, one RBI, a double and four steals.
Elam Faust was 1-for-4 with two RBI and one walk, plus he had a sacrifice fly. Aiden Bene went 1-for-1 (a double) with one run, two RBI and two walks. Luke Davis was 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI, as one of his hits was a double.
Trevor Niehaus ended the game at 1-for-3 with one run, two RBI and a walk, plus he was hit by a pitch. Tristin Puckett was 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI, and he was hit by a pitch. Caden Boone was 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and a walk, and he added a double as his hit.
Kristian Beachy scored two runs and walked once, and Max Baker walked once. Tanner Roberts scored two runs and drew two walks. Alex Van Fleet scored one run. Aric Slack scored two runs, had one RBI, a walk, a steal and he was hit by a pitch.
Baker pitched 2.2 innings, where he allowed four earned runs and had four strikeouts in the no-decision. Bene was the winning pitcher with 3.1 innings pitched, allowing two earned runs with six strikeouts.
The win improves the Mustangs to 4-0 overall.
