Lady Mustangs split Saturday tri-DH against Miami Trace, South Webster

Saturday saw the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs split a tri-doubleheader, as they lost to the Miami Trace Lady Panthers and defeated the South Webster Lady Jeeps at LCHS.
In the first game of the day, LCHS lost to Miami Trace by a 4-2 score, as Miami Trace totaled 15 hits and committed one error. LCHS finished the game with five hits and had two errors.
The game was scoreless until the top of the third was finished with Miami Trace scoring two runs, but MTHS extended their lead with another two-run inning in the top of the fourth. LCHS battled with one run in their bottom of the fourth, as they trailed by a 4-1 score.
LCHS scored one last run in the bottom of the fourth for the two-run loss.
Sophia Michael finished 2-for-3 for LCHS, while teammate Noel Barnhill was 1-for-3, and Aubrey Roberts went 1-for-3 with a run. Audrey Barry finished 1-for-3 (a double) with one RBI. Caitlyn Collins scored a run, and Reese Ruble forced one walk.
Steals were credited to Jazmine Brown and Roberts.
Barnhill pitched one inning where she finished with three strikeouts, allowing no runs, hits or walks on 10 pitches. Roberts pitched six innings, allowing four earned runs while totaling five strikeouts and two walks on 105 pitches.
In their second game of the day, LCHS defeated South Webster 4-3 at LCHS.
The non-conference win by the Lady Mustangs saw they trail 2-0 after the first inning, but the Lady Mustangs took a 3-2 lead with a three-run third inning. South Webster tied the score in the top of the seventh, but LCHS gained the walk-off win with a run in the bottom of the seventh when Caitlyn Collins doubled to right field, scoring Ruble for the game-winning run.
LCHS finished with 12 hits and one error, while the Lady Jeeps had eight hits and no errors.
Caitlyn Collins finished 2-for-4 with one RBI. Michael ended the game 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Also with two hits was Barry at 2-for-3, with one of her hits being a double.
Barnhill was 1-for-3 with one run and two RBI as she hit a home run. Ruble was 1-for-3 with one run, Brown finished 1-for-3 with a run, and Lily Ferguson ended the game at 1-for-3.
Kami Collins was 1-for-3 and Roberts was 1-for-2.
Steals were credited to Brown, Caitlyn Collins and Roberts.
Barnhill pitched six innings, allowing one earned run on five hits and no walks with 11 strikeouts on 69 pitches. Roberts pitched one inning, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and no walks with two strikeouts on 17 pitches.
After Saturday, LCHS moves to 5-1 overall.
Next for the Lady Mustangs is a game on Monday, March 31 at Huntington in non-conference play at 4:30 p.m.
