Lady Mustangs falls to Johnstown-Monroe

On Friday, April 3, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs were defeated in a road game against Johnstown-Monroe, 23-2. 

LCHS totaled three hits and had six errors in the loss, with hits from Aubrey Roberts (1-for-3), Kendra Doss (1-for-2, a double, a steal, one run) and Sophia Michael (1-for-1, one RBI). Jazmine Brown scored a run and walked once. Sadie Kuipers also forced a walk, and Everleigh Barry had one walk.

LCHS earns SHAC win over West Union 

An 11-hit and errorless performance on Tuesday evening saw the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs softball team defeat the West Union Lady Dragons, 11-0 in five innings for a Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory. 

LCHS scored early with a three-run first inning, then on their home field the Lady Mustangs added five runs in the bottom of the third and three more runs in the fourth. 

West Union totaled three hits with two errors.

Noel Barnhill was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and teammate Reese Ruble also had two hits at 2-for-2 with two runs and one walk. 

Audrey Barry finished 1-for-3 with a run, one RBI and a walk, and LCHS teammate Aubrey Roberts finished 1-for-2, scoring one run, with one RBI and a walk. 

Jazmine Brown went 1-for-3 as she collected a walk and earned an RBI. 

Sophia Michael finished the win with an RBI, and Sadie Kuipers was 1-for-2 as she scored a run and had an RBI. Everleigh Barry finished the SHAC game at 1-for-1 with one run scored. 

Kami Collins finished with one run and a walk. Kendra Doss was 1-for-1 with one run, one RBI and a walk. Kylee Tong ended the day at 1-for-1 with a run and one RBI. 

LCHS totaled seven doubles off the bats of Roberts, Everleigh Barry, Doss, Tong, Barnhill, Ruble and Kulpers. Barnhill also had a triple.

Steals were made by Doss (two), Audrey Barry, Brown, Collins, Ruble and Michael. 

Barnhill was the winning pitcher with five innings pitched, allowing no runs on three hits and no walks with 12 strikeouts.

Lynchburg-Clay win road game at Miami Trace

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs gained a non-conference win over the host Miami Trace Lady Panthers, 3-0, with the shutout win coming on Wednesday evening in Fayette County. 

After three scoreless innings Wednesday, it was Lynchburg-Clay gaining the upper hand with two runs in the top of the fourth for the 2-0 lead, then they added one last insurance run in the top of the seventh for what became a three-run win. 

LCHS won the hitting battle at 6-5, and neither team committed an error. 

Noel Barnhill and Kami Collins each had two hits for LCHS, with Barnhill going 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI, and Collins going 2-for-3. 

Aubrey Roberts was 1-for-3 with a run and a steal. Kendra Doss finished 1-for-3 with one RBI. LCHS also saw Sophia Michael gain an RBI, while Audrey Barry scored one run, recorded a steal and walked once. 

Barnhill pitched all seven innings for the win, allowing no runs on five hits and two walks with 12 strikeouts.

Lady Mustangs suffer SHAC road loss to North Adams 

In a contest between two Southern Hills Athletic Conference Division I teams, it was North Admas gaining the win over LCHS for a 3-1 Lady Mustangs loss at North Adams High School. 

All the runs scored in the game came in the third and fourth innings, with North Adams leading 2-1 after the third, and the hosts scored one last run in the bottom of the fourth for what became a two-run win. 

Each team had 10 hits, and Lynchburg-Clay had one error. 

Aubrey Roberts finished the game at 2-for-4 with one double. Kami Collins was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. 

Everleigh Barry was 1-for-3, Kylee Tong went 1-for-1, Sadie Kuipers finished 1-for-3, Sophia Michael went 1-for-3, and Audrey Barry was 1-for-3 with an RBI and one walk. 

Roberts pitched 4.0 innings with three earned runs, and teammate Barnhill pitched 2.0 innings, allowing no runs with two strikeouts. 

LCHS now stands at 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the SHAC Division I standings. 

Next for LCHS is a SHAC game on Monday, April 13 at Manchester (3-0, 7-1) at 5 p.m.
