A four-run sixth inning was more than enough to propel the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs to a non-conference win on Wednesday, as they gained a 7-1 victory over the Adena Lady Warriors.

The March 25 win saw LCHS collect 19 hits and commit two errors, while Adena had three hits and one error.

LC (2-0) trailed early at 1-0 after the first inning, but in the bottom of the second the Lady Mustangs scored their first run of the game for a 1-1 score.

Lynchburg-Clay added two runs in the third inning, then came the aforementioned four-run bottom of the sixth inning for their six-run win.

All nine Lynchburg-Clay batters had no less than two hits apiece, with Jazmine Brown finishing 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Audrey Barry was 2-for-4 with one run, and Aubrey Roberts finished 2-for-4 with a double, one run and two RBI. Sophia Michael went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Noel Barnhill was 2-for-3 with one walk. Reese Ruble finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple, while Sadie Kuipers was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two runs. Kami Collins finished the win at 2-for-3 with one run and two RBI. Kendra Doss was 2-for-3 with one run.

Barnhill was the winning pitcher, finishing with a complete game (seven innings) as she allowed one earned run with three hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts. She threw 105 pitches, 80 for strikes.

Jett led Adena at 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, as one of her hits was a home run.

Next for the Lady Mustangs is a non-conference home game Friday, March 27 at home against the Piketon Redstreaks at 5 p.m.
