Lady Mustangs gain district quarterfinal win against Paint Valley; win regular-season finale over Ripley

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs are moving on in the Division VI SE District Tournament by defeating the Paint Valley Lady Bearcats, 35-28 Monday night at Lynchburg-Clay High School.

The Feb. 16 win allowed the Lady Mustangs to advance to the district semifinals on Monday, Feb. 23 at Southeastern High School, where they will be facing the No. 1 seeded Federal Hocking Lady Lancers (13-8) at 6:15 p.m. 

Monday’s win in the district quarterfinals by Lynchburg-Clay saw 32 of their 35 points scored by the trio of Lily Ferguson, Madison McMullen and Savannah Bell. 

LCHS began the game trailing after the first frame at 8-3, but followed with a 12-8 second quarter, leaving Lynchburg-Clay trailing by one point at 16-15 at halftime. 

The Lady Mustangs won the next two quarters as their second half included an 11-9 third quarter, and the fourth quarter LCHS won the frame at 9-6. 

Ferguson led the Lady Mustangs with 12 points, sinking three two-point baskets, and she was 6-of-10 from the free-throw line. She also collected two assists and one steal. 

Madison McMullen totaled 11 points with four two-point field goals, one 3-pointer and she also had two rebounds, one assist and four steals. 

Savannah Bell ended with nine points by making four two-point baskets, and she went 1-of-2 from the free-throw line. Bell added three rebounds, two assists and one steal. 

Scoring one point each were Addy Carraher (seven rebounds, one steal), Joslyn Rockey (eight rebounds, two assists, one steal) and Ava McLaughlin (one rebound, one steal). 

Team totals for the Lady Mustangs were 11 two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, and they were 10-of-18 from the free-throw line. LCHS also had totals which included 21 rebounds (three offensive), seven assists and nine steals.

On Feb. 12, 2026 the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs gained a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win over the visiting Ripley Lady Bluer Jays, 48-45 at LCHS. 

The Thursday win started off with a 15-11 first quarter in LC’s favor. The second frame saw the Lady Mustangs outscore Ripley, 15-4 for a halftime advantage of 15 points at 30-15.

Ripley won the third frame at 14-2, and each team scored 16 points in the fourth quarter. 

Lily Ferguson and Madison McMullen each scored 14 points to lead LCHS in the scoring column. Ferguson totaled six two-point baskets, and she was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line. She added three rebounds, one assist, and six steals to her final game totals. 

McMullen in her 14-point game finished with five two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and she was 1-of-2 from the free-throw line. McMullen also collected five rebounds, one assist, four steals, and one block. 

Addy Carraher ended the game with nine points by making three 3-pointers. Carraher also had seven rebounds, one assist, and three steals. 

Scoring four points each were Ava McLaughlin and Joslyn Rockey. McLaughlin had two two-point baskets, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Rockey finished with two two-point baskets, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals. 

Savannah Bell totaled three points with a basket and made a free throw, plus she had five rebounds, three assists and two steals. 

LC’s team totals were 16 two-point baskets, four 3-pointers, and they were 4-of-8 from the free-throw line. LCHS also had 27 rebounds (eight offensive), 13 assists, 16 steals, and one block.
