Lady Mustangs fall to North Adams

On Thursday, Dec. 4, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game to the host North Adams Lady Green Devils by a 48-32 score at North Adams High School.
The game saw the score tied at 12-12 when the first frame ended, but the Lady Green Devils won the next three frames, including the second quarter at 11-6 for a halftime lead over LCHS of 23-18.
The second half included a third frame with the Lady Green Devils taking a 37-29 lead following a quarter where they outscored Lynchburg-Clay 14-11. In the fourth quarter, North Adams scored 11 points and LCHS added three points to their overall scoring total.
Lily Ferguson led LCHS with 11 points, as she was 7-of-9 from the free-throw line and she made two two-point baskets. Ferguson also added three rebounds, one assist and five steals.
Ava McLaughlin totaled six points, three rebounds, one assist and three steals. Madison McMullen finished with two points, six rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block. The Lady Mustangs also had Addy Carraher total five points and three rebounds.
Scoring four points each were Joslyn Rockey and Savannah Bell. Rockey also collected three rebounds, one assist and three steals. Bell totaled one rebound, two assists and one block.
Team totals for LCHS included nine two-point baskets, one 3-pointer (Carraher), 19 rebounds (seven offensive), 14 steals and two blocks, plus the Lady Mustangs had 31 turnovers.
North Adams was led by Tenzlee Burns with a double-double, as she had 17 points and 10 rebounds, plus four assists and three steals. Burns made two 3-pointers.
NAHS also had Emma Pistole total 16 points and five rebounds. Other scoring totals for North Adams were Ava Pistole (7), Jaida Harrison (2), Jacee Davis (3), Sophia Barlow (1) and Bella Gray (2).
Team totals for the Lady Green Devils included 15 two-point baskets, three 3-pointers (Burns 2, Davis 1), 47 rebounds (25 offensive), eight assists, 17 steals and four blocks, plus NAHS had 32 turnovers.
LCHS went 11-of-15 from the free-throw line, while North Adams was 9-of-17 in their free-throw attempts.
The loss moves LCHS to 1-1 in the SHAC Division I standings and 1-3 overall, while North Adams is 2-0 in the SHAC Div. I standings and 2-1 overall.
