MACON — One thing is for certain and that's the Southern Hills Athletic Conference boys soccer season is going to be close.

Thus far this season SHAC has seen it's share of competitive soccer, and that was the case on Monday as the start of the week saw the Eastern Warriors score a second half goal that eventually sent them to an 1-0 victory over the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs.

The game played at Eastern High School saw EHS junior Kayne Dotson score the lone goal of the game, close to the net, as he got the ball past multiple LCHS defenders with 5:24 left in regulation.

Dotson gained possession of the ball off an assist by senior Samuel Kirk, who received the ball off a pass from junior Jayse Riggs.

On defense for LCHS, keeper Tanner Roberts totaled one save as EHS had three shots on goal. Eastern keeper Chase Pinkerton totaled 10 saves in the Warriors’ win.

The loss sends the Mustangs to an overall record of 4-1-0 with a 1-1-0 mark in SHAC play. Eastern improves to 4-0-0 overall with a 3-0-0 record in the SHAC.

Next for the Mustangs is a home game on Wednesday, Aug. 27 against the Ripley Blue Jays at 6:30 p.m.
