Lady Mustangs take 2 of past 3 games; earn SHAC wins against Peebles and Whiteoak

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs have won two of their past three games — all in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference — with wins against the Peebles Lady Indians and Whiteoak Lady Wildcats, along with a loss to the North Adams Lady Green Devils.
Though Lynchburg-Clay earned a 1-0 lead on Monday (April 27) after the first inning, North Adams came back with a run in both the top of the third and fourth innings for a 2-1 advantage by the visiting Lady Green Devils.
North Adams increased their lead to 5-1 with a three-run top of the fifth, but LCHS answered with two runs of their own at the bottom of the inning for a 5-3 score, which became the final score in the six-inning game.
NAHS finished with eight hits and no errors, while LCHS had seven hits and two errors.
In the seven hits by Lynchburg-Clay, Audrey Roberts was 2-for-3 with two runs.
Noel Barnhill finished 2-for-3 with three RBI as her hits were a double and triple.
Jazmine Brown finished 1-for-3 with a steal and one run. Sadie Kuipers ended the day at 1-for-3, and Kami Collins finished 1-for-2. Everleigh Barry forced a walk.
Barnhill pitched five innings, allowing four earned runs with 11 strikeouts.
Carlee Garrison, Chloe Armstrong and Marley Whalen each had two hits for North Adams.

On Tuesday (April 28), the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs defeated the Peebles Lady Indians 8-1 at LCHS for a SHAC victory.
This game saw the Lady Mustangs get a strong start with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, then took a six-run lead with another three runs scored in the bottom of the third.
Peebles and LCHS each scored one run in the fourth inning for a 7-1 score. In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Lady Mustangs scored one last run for the final seven-run win.
Noel Barnhill led LCHS at 3-for-4 with three RBI, a double and a triple.
Jazmine Brown ended the day at 2-for-3 with three runs, one walk and a steal. Sadie Kuipers was 2-for-4 with a run, two RBI, a double and a steal.
Audrey Barry finished 2-for-3 with a run, one RBI and two steals. Baylee McClain finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a steal.
Reese Ruble collected an RBI, and drawing a walk was Sophia Michael.
Barnhill was the winning pitcher for Lynchburg-Clay as she went all seven innings in the circle with one earned run, no walks and seven strikeouts.

Lynchburg-Clay ended their week with a second SHAC victory by defeating the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats at WHS by a 17-3 score in their five-inning game on Wednesday, April 29.
LCHS out-hit Whiteoak, 12-2, as Lynchburg-Clay had four errors and Whiteoak finished with seven errors.
After a scoreless first inning by each team, LCHS took a 7-0 advantage in the top of the second, then followed with an eight-run top of the third.
WHS responded with three runs in the bottom of the third inning, but LCHS came back with two runs in the top of the fourth to complete the scoring for the SHAC game.
Sadie Kuipers led Lynchburg-Clay at the plate as her big day saw her finish a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI and a home run, along with two steals.
Aubrey Roberts was 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI and a walk, plus she added three steals.
Noel Barnhill finished 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple, two runs, four RBI and a walk. Everleigh Barry was 2-for-2 with one run, and she also hit a home run. Baylee McClain went 2-for-4 with two runs, one RBI.
Kami Collins collected a walk, and teammate Kylee Tong scored a run, one walk and a steal. Jazmine Brown finished with two runs and two steals. Audrey Barry had one run and a walk.
Caraline West collected a run and a walk. Sophia Michael scored two runs. Kendra Doss forced a walk.
Roberts was the winning pitcher, allowing no earned runs on two hits and no walks with three strikeouts. Doss pitched two innings, allowing no hits, no runs, one walk and two strikeouts.
For Whiteoak, Matti Conrad was 1-for-2 with one run, a double and a walk. Kyra Boyd finished 1-for-2 with one RBI and a double. Chanel Captain collected an RBI, Jenna Canada scored a run, and Mckinley Mootz also scored a run.
Boyd pitched for WHS, where she had three strikeouts in three innings. Madison Davidson pitched two innings with no earned runs allowed.
LCHS is now 8-4 in the SHAC Division I standings and 11-9 overall. WHS stands at 2-9 in the SHAC and 2-12 overall.
