Fairfield wins in 3 sets over Paint Valley

The Fairfield Lady Lions hosted the Paint Valley Lady Bearcats on Wednesday, and defended Grandle Gymnasium with a three-set win over the visiting PVHS squad.

The Lady Lions won by scores of 25-16, 27-25 and 25-13.

The win included the Lady Lions collecting 59 digs, 42 kills, 36 assists, 10 aces and four blocks.

There was a tie for the lead in kills for Fairfield, as senior Jobey Hattan and sophomore Remi Moon each had 15 for the match. Also with kills were senior McKinley Cox (seven), senior Mackenzie Anderson (three) and senior Kelsey Clark (two).

The assists leader was Clark with 28, followed by Anderson with seven kills and Cox with two assists.

Of the 10 aces for Fairfield, sophomore Alyssa Bales had five, followed by Clark and Hattan with two each, and finishing with one ace was Moon.

Clark also led FHS in digs with 17, while Hattan had 15 and Bales totaled 10 digs. Moon totaled nine digs, followed with six by Anderson, and Cox had two digs.

Four players for FHS had a block, and they were Anderson, Clark, Cox and freshman Jorja May.

The Lady Lions are now 15-6 overall.

Lynchburg-Clay collects win at Bethel-Tate

Traveling to Bethel-Tate High School, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs kept adding to their win total for the 2024 season by defeating BTHS in three sets.

LCHS won by scores of 25-12 in set one, followed by a set two win at 25-21, and in set three the LCHS team won at 25-19.

Lynchburg-Clay had 35 kills as a team, as the leader was sophomore Addy Carraher with 11, followed by sophomore Kylie O’Connor (seven), junior Avery Shope (six), junior Matalyn Magee (five), sophomore Halle Greene (three) and sophomore Melany Stephenson (three).

The assist leader for FHS — as the team totaled 32 assists as a team — was junior Ava McLaughlin with 15, followed by sophomore Addy Carraher (10), junior Joslyn Rockey (six) and sophomore Ashlynn Wilson (one).

LCHS also had 14 aces as a team, led by Rockey with eight, and others with aces were  McLaughlin (two), O’Connor (two), Shope (two) and senior Ava Doughman (one).

Lynchburg-Clay also had 94 digs as a team in their win against BTHS, with Rockey having 41, while Shope had 16, Stephenson finished with 12 and Greene had 10.

LCHS also saw Carraher with five digs, and the remainder of the digs included McLaughlin (four), Doughman (two), O’Connor (two) and sophomore Jules Vesey (two).

O’Connor also had two blocks for the Lady Mustangs.

LCHS now stands at 16-5 overall this season.

Lions earn SHAC victory over WUHS

The Fairfield Lions earned a hard-fought two-goal win on Wednesday, with the Lions defeating the West Union Dragons, 2-0.

Fairfield’s two goals were scored by freshman Logan Burgess and senior Carson Jenkins. Assists were credited to senior Logan McIntosh and junior Aiden Teeters.

At goal for FHS was senior Zane Matthews with seven saves.

The win lifts the Lions to 3-4-0 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference and 4-11-0 overall.

Wildcats score 5 goals in win over Ripley

Whiteoak earned another Southern Hills Athletic Conference win on Wednesday, defeating the Ripley Blue Jays at 5-1.

Goals for WHS were scored by junior Abe Flader with the hat trick, scoring three. Also for WHS, senior Tyler Wessner scorned two goals, while assists went to senior Tori Potts and freshman Christopher Wessner.

WHS senior keeper Jackson Tedford finished with nine saves.

Whiteoak soccer now is 3-5-0 in the SHAC and 9-6-0 overall.
