Lady Indians earn 4-run win over Washington

The Hillsboro Lady Indians earned their second consecutive victory on Monday by defeating the Washington Lady Blue Lions 6-2 in Washington Court House, which is their first Frontier Athletic Conference win of the 2026 season. 

Even with Washington leading 2-0 after the first inning was finished, Hillsboro responded with five runs scoring in the top of the fifth, then they added one final run in the top of the sixth for the eventual four-run victory. 

In the win, the Lady Indians totaled 10 hits and had four errors. Washington totaled one hit and had two errors. 

Rilynn Swisshelm and Addley Miller each collected three hits in the win, with Swisshelm going 3-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI, plus one of her hits was a double, and she collected two steals. 

Miller went 3-for-4 with one run, one RBI, and she also had a double and two steals.  

Chloe Roberts finished the day at 1-for-4 (a double) with a run and two RBI. Peyton Spurlock was 1-for-3 (a double) with an RBI, a walk and a steal. 

Emory Zornes was 1-for-4 with a steal for the Lady Indians. Harper Conrad finished the game at 1-for-3 with two runs, a walk and two steals. Paisley Zink collected a walk and was hit by a pitch. Blair Gard walked once for HHS. 

Spurlock was the winning pitcher as she pitched all seven innings, allowing no earned runs on one hit and three walks with 10 strikeouts. 

HHS is now 1-6 in the FAC and 2-12 overall. Washington stands at 0-7 in the FAC and 1-15 overall. 

Both teams will face each other on Wednesday, April 22 at HHS with a 5 p.m. first pitch.
