Indians lose recent games to Washington and Warren

The Hillsboro Indians played two games over this past weekend, where on Friday night they lost at home to a conference foe, the Washington Blue Lions, then the following day HHS lost in non-conference action against Warren at Logan High School.
On Friday (Dec. 19), the Indians lost to their Frontier Athletic Conference rival Washington by a 59-45 score at HHS.
Hillsboro trailed at home following the first frame at 15-7 as Mason Dumpert, Jack Howland and Zack Brown contributed to the scoring, including a 3-pointer by Brown.
The second quarter saw both teams each score 16 points, with Howland scoring nine points in the quarter, while Dumoert sank a 3-pointer. Also in the second, Brady Juillerat and Jeven Hochstuhl each made a two-point basket.
The halftime score saw Washington lead 31-23 at halftime.
The third quarter included Washington adding 15 points to the scoring column and the Indians scoring 13 points. In the fourth quarter, Washington outscored the Indians, 13-9.
Howland led the Indians with 21 points, making eight two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and he was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Dumpert chipped in with 10 points as he was second in scoring for HHS. Dumpert’s totals included two 3-pointers, a two-point basket and he was also 2-of-2 in his free-throw attempts.
Brown scored five points for HHS, including a 3-pointer and two-pointer. Also with five points was Hochstuhl, as he also made a 3-pointer and two-point bucket. Juillerat ended the game with four points, making a basket from the field and going 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
For the game, the Indians totaled 12 two-point baskets, five 3-pointers and they were 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.
As for the Blue Lions, the visitors were led by Jeston Everhart with 19 points, while Aden Osborne and Bryson Heath each scored 14 points. Noah Haithcock ended the game with eight points, and scoring two points each were Sam Pfeifer and Jevin Baker.
The Blue Lions ended the game with 19 two-point baskets, six 3-pointers (Everhart 5, Heath 1), and they were 3-of-9 from the free-throw line.

Saturday, Dec. 20, the Indians lost at Logan High School to the Warren Warriors 78-65 in non-conference play.
The game saw HHS trailed 16-13 at the end of the first frame as HHS had points from Juillerat (a 3-pointer), Jeven Hochstuhl, Jack Howland and Zack Brown.
Hillsboro was outscored 24-14 in the second quarter as the Indians had points scored by Hochstuhl (a 3-pointer), Easton Inman (four points) and Howland (seven points, including a 3-pointer).
Hillsboro trailed 40-27 at halftime.
Warren outscored the Indians 25-12 in the third quarter, but the fourth frame saw the Indians win the frame at 26-13.
HHS in the third frame had seven points from Howland as one of his baskets was a 3-pointer, plus Dumpert made a 3-pointer in the third and Inman made a two-point basket.
The Indians’ fourth quarter included two points each from Juillerat, Dumpert and Brown, plus six points by Howland. Scoring six points in the fourth quarter was Tre Captain, as Captain’s six points were from two two-point baskets and two made free throws. Inman scored eight points in the fourth, making four two-point baskets.
For the game, the Indians totaled 21 two-point baskets, five 3-pointers and they were 8-of-11 from the free-throw line.
Howland was the Indians’ leading scorer with 24 points, making six two-point buckets, two 3-pointers, and he was 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Inman was next with 14 points for the game as he made seven two-point baskets. Dumpert totaled seven points with two two-point baskets and he made one 3-pointer. Captain totaled six points for Hillsboro with two two-point baskets and two made free throws.
Juillerat and Hochstuhl each finished the game with five points, as Juillerat and Hochstuhl each connected with a two-point basket and a 3-pointer. Brown finished the game with four points off two made baskets.
The two losses sent the Indians to an overall record of 0-7 this season, as they are 0-3 in the FAC standings.
