Indians fall to Miami Trace in regular-season finale; Panthers improve to 21-0

The Hillsboro Indians played their final regular-season game of 2024-25 Saturday, traveling to Fayette County and facing the undefeated Miami Trace Panthers. The Indians lost the away game by a 67-53 score, putting the MTHS Panthers at 21-0 overall to conclude their regular season.
MTHS led 19-15 at the end of the first quarter, and they also outscored HHS 16-10 in the second frame for a halftime lead over the Indians at 35-25.
The second half saw HHS outpace MTHS 14-13 in the third, and it was MTHS winning the final frame at 19-14 as they clinched a perfect Frontier Athletic Conference season at 10-0.
The Indians were led in scoring by Tate Davis with 17 points, making three 3-pointers.
Next was Jack Howland with 12 points, followed by Tre Captain with 11 points, including one 3-pointer. Brady Juillerat totaled eight points, as six of his points were off two 3-pointers.
Brayden Hunter finished with three points for the Indians, while Mason Dumpert totaled two points for HHS.
Team totals for Hillsboro included 14 two-point baskets, six 3-pointers, and they were 7-of-11 from the free-throw line.
Miami Trace was led in scoring by Adam Guthrie with 27 points, followed by Skye Salyers with 15 points and Julian Baker with 10 points. MTHS team totals included 25 two-point baskets, two 3-pointers, and they went 11-of-16 from the free-throw line.
Hillsboro ends the regular season at 10-12 overall and 3-7 in the FAC.
Next for the Indians is a Division IV SE District Quarterfinal game Thursday, Feb. 20 at Hillsboro High School, as they are scheduled to face the Vinton County Vikings (11-10) at 7 p.m.
