Hillsboro trio pitches shutout against East Clinton

The Hillsboro Indians earned their fifth win of the season by defeating the host East Clinton Astros 3-0 in a non-conference game that saw three Hillsboro pitchers combine for the shutout.
HHS scored two runs in the top of the first, and added their final run in the top of the sixth inning. The Indians finished the day with four hits and no errors. ECHS had two hits and committed three errors.
Nate Lane, Luke Holland and Brady Juillerat combined for the seven-inning, two-hit shutout in Clinton County.
Lane was the winning pitcher, tossing four innings where he allowed no runs or hits with six walks and six strikeouts, finishing with 89 pitches. Holland pitched one inning of shutout baseball as he allowed no runs on two hits and no walks with two strikeouts, throwing 14 pitches. Juillerat pitched two innings for the save, allowing no hits or runs on three walks with three strikeouts, throwing 40 pitches.
Walker Pence led the Indians with a 2-for-3 day at the plate, a game where he finished with a double and a triple, plus he scored a run and collected an RBI.
Jack Cornele was 1-for-3 with a double, and Brayden Oberrecht went 1-for-3. Wesley Bailey, Cornele and Jeven Hochstuhl were all hit by a pitch.
The Indians in their winning effort improved to 5-10 overall.
