Hillsboro tennis defeats Jackson, Miami Trace on consecutive nights to clinch 2025 FAC championship

HILLSBORO — The top spot in the Frontier Athletic Conference for the 2025 girls tennis season belongs to the Hillsboro Lady Indians.
The Lady Indians stayed undefeated in the Frontier Athletic Conference and overall this season, defeating the Jackson Ironladies and Miami Trace Lady Panthers on consecutive evenings, clinching the FAC championship with one FAC match remaining on their schedule.
All other teams in the FAC have at least two conference losses. The lone FAC game remaining for HHS is against Chillicothe.
HHS is now 7-0 in the FAC, while Miami Trace is 4-2 in second place. Jackson and Washington each are 1-3, and Chillicothe is 0-5 in conference play as there are five schools who compete in girls tennis in the FAC (McClain doesn’t have a tennis team). Overall, the Hillsboro girls tennis team is 10-0 on the season.
In their first seven FAC matches this season, the Lady Indians are 29-6 overall.
On Wednesday (Sept. 10), against Jackson, the Lady Indians won by a 4-1 score at the Hillsboro High School tennis courts.
Coached by longtime head coach LaRue Turner, the Lady Indians saw their first singles player Jenna Hart win by scores of 6/3, 6/2. The winning in singles play continued as the second singles match saw Adalyn Gaines win by scores of 6/0, 6/0. Also in third singles, Hillsboro was the winner as Natalie Tharp won by scores of 6/0, 6/1.
In doubles action, the Hillsboro team of Ciara Woods and Taylor-Ann Scruggs won at 7/6, 6/5. In second doubles the HHS team of Kamrie Lee and Lilah Hardy lost a close contest at 6/3, 4/6, 5/7.
On Thursday, Sept. 11 the Lady Indians won against the visiting Miami Trace Lady Panthers at 4-1.
In first singles action, Jenna Hart won for the Lady Indians at 6/2, 6/1, followed with a second singles win as Adalyn Gaines gained the victory at 6/1, 6/0. The third singles contest saw Natalie Tharp win for Hillsboro at 6/0, 6/0.
Doubles play saw the Hillsboro team of Ciara Woods and Taylor-Ann Scruggs gain another team win, as they defeated their opponents from Miami Trace at 3/6, 6/1, 7/6. In second doubles, play, Kamrie Lee and Lilah Hardy fell by scores of 1/6, 4/6.
Next for Hillsboro is a match this weekend on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Western Brown against the Lady Broncos at 10 a.m. Next week will also have the Lady Indians wrap up their FAC schedule, as they will travel to Chillicothe to face the Lady Cavaliers on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 4:30 p.m. HHS will also play on Monday, Sept. 15 at Georgetown in non-conference play and on Saturday, Sept. 20 vs. Portsmouth.
