Hillsboro softball earns 14th win of season; defeats Notre Dame

Going into the game, the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans were undefeated for the 2025 season, but in a game shortened due to darkness, the Hillsboro Lady Indians were declared the winners Thursday evening, defeating the hosts 3-1 in non-conference action between two of the top teams in southern Ohio.
The game was scoreless through three innings, but Notre Dame scored first with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Hillsboro rallied back by scoring all three of their runs in the top of the fifth, which ended up being the final inning completed.
HHS finished with five hits and had zero errors, while Notre Dams totaled one hit and committed one error.
Of the five hits by Hillsboro, Mylea Fridley was a perfect 2-for-2 with one walk. Isabelle Brunck finished 1-for-3 with an RBI. Addie Huff went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Teammate Addley Miller finished the game 1-for-3.
Hillsboro also had a runs scored by Camryn Spruell, and Chloe Roberts collected one walk and one run. Rilynn Swisshelm scored one run and walked twice.
Spruell was the winning pitcher by pitching five innings, allowing one run (unearned) on one hit and one walk with 13 strikeouts.
The win improves the Lady Indians’ record to 14-3 overall this season.
