Hillsboro Lady Indians win game one over North Adams; HHS boys fall to Green Devils

The Hillsboro soccer programs traveled on Friday night(Aug. 15) to start the 2025 season where the girls team defeated North Adams with a shutout victory by a 5-0 score, while the boys team lost to North Adams, 4-2. 

Starting with the Hillsboro Lady Indians’ dominant victory, their five-goal win included a hat trick by senior Kobie Miles, who scored three of the five Hillsboro goals, with her goals assisted by Ella Jordan (first goal), and her final two goals were assisted by Arianna Evans. 

Miles scored the first, fourth and fifth goals of the non-conference contest at NAHS. The second goal of the game was scored by Madison Karnes, who was also assisted by Jordan for her second assist of the contest. 

Evans scored the third goal of the game, with her goal being unassisted. 

The win puts Hillsboro at 1-0 on the season, as their next game is on Monday, Aug. 18 on the road against Wilmington at 7 p.m. at WHS in non-conference play. 

From there they’ll play on Tuesday, Aug. 19 on the road against the Fairfield Lady Lions in a non-conference Highland County showdown, starting at 6:45 p.m.

In the Hillsboro Indians boys soccer 2025 season opener, the score was tied at 1-1 after the first 40 minutes of play at NAHS, but the second half the Green Devils outscored the Indians 3-1 for a 4-2 victory over HHS. 

For the Indians, their goals were scored by seniors Ryan Howland and Mathias Hostetler, with an assist credited to sophomore Easton Inman. 

North Adams had two players score two goals each, those being junior Jordan Peters (who scored a goal on a penalty kick) and senior Tristan Young. North Adams also had a goal from senior Beau Hesler. Earning an assist was senior Dylan Mullenix.

At goal for the Indians was freshman Owen Davis with 10 saves in his varsity debut, including stopping one penalty kick. North Adams keeper junior Thad Moore totaled three saves. 

Hillsboro will play again on Monday, Aug. 18 on the road in a non-conference contest against the Wilmington Hurricane at 5 p.m. Then on Tuesday, Aug. 19 HHS will play again on the road against the Fairfield Lions in non-conference action at 4:30 p.m.
