Hillsboro girls tennis earns FAC wins over Washington, Miami Trace

This week, the Hillsboro Lady Indians have earned two impressive team wins in Frontier Athletic Conference play, defeating the Washington Lady Blue Lions on Tuesday, followed by a win against the Miami Trace Lady Panthers.

On Tuesday, Aug. 13, the Lady Indians won on the road in Washington C.H. by defeating the host Lady Blue Lions, 4-1.

In first singles, Hillsboro’s Jenna Hart won in three sets by scores of 2-6, 6-3, 7-6.

The second singles match saw Hillsboro’s Adalyn Gaines win in two sets at 6-2, 6-3. The third singles contest saw Natalie Tharp also win in two sets by scores of 6-3, 6-3.

In the first second doubles match, Hillsboro suffered a loss as Elizabeth Sowders and Taylor-Ann Scruggs fell at 1-6, 4-6.

HHS won their second doubles contest with Ciara Woods and Allison Hendrix winning in two sets by scores of 6-3, 6-2.

Two days later, the Lady Indians defeated the host Miami Trace Lady Panthers with a sweep of all five matches, winning the FAC contest at 5-0. 

HHS in the first singles match had a two-set win by Jenna Hart at 6-0, 6-2. The second singles contest saw Adalyn Gaines defeat her opponent from MTHS in two sets at 6-0, 6-3. The Lady Indians in third singles play gained the match win as Natalie Tharp won in two sets at 6-3, 6-1.

Hillsboro in first doubles saw Elizabeth Sowders and Taylor-Ann Scruggs defeat their Miami Trace counterparts at 6-3, 6-1 for the two-set win. In second doubles, Ciara Woods and Allison Hendrix won in three sets at 6-4, 0-6, 7-6.
