Hillsboro girls soccer wins against Chillicothe; boys soccer and volleyball fall to Cavaliers

HILLSBORO — On a Tuesday evening where Hillsboro High School hosted a Frontier Athletic Conference rival, the Chillicothe Cavaliers, in boys soccer, girls soccer and volleyball, it was the Lady Indians on the soccer field who gained a victory and defended their home turf.
The Hillsboro Lady Indians won their FAC soccer match by a 2-0 score Tuesday (Sept. 14) as they had two first-half goals scored by senior Arianna Evans with both goals assisted by junior Ella Jordan.
At goal for HHS was senior Phoebe Holland with four saves.
In the girls match, Evans’ first goal was scored with 17:31 left in the match off a corner kick from Jordan. The second goal came off a pass from Jordan and Evans sent the ball over 30 yards, past the keeper and into the back of the net with 5:52 left in the first half.
Neither team scored a goal in the second half.
Hillsboro’s win in the girls soccer match put them at 1-1-0 in the FAC and 4-3-0 overall.
HHS is scheduled to play at Washington Court House on Thursday, Sept. 17 where they will face the Washington Lady Blue Lions (0-6-1).

In the boys match on Tuesday evening at HHS, the Indians lost by a 5-1 score to the visiting Chillicothe Cavaliers.
Hillsboro’s lone goal came in the second half in the final 20 minutes of action when junior Aiden Thomas put the ball past the keeper as the goal was unassisted.
Chillicothe led 2-0 at halftime and scored three more goals in the second half as they led 5-0 with 23:00 left in the match.
The loss sends HHS two an overall record of 1-5-1, with a FAC record of 0-1-0. CHS is now 1-0-0 in the FAC and 3-4-1 overall.
Next for Hillsboro is a makeup FAC match on Saturday, Sept. 19 at MTHS with a 5 p.m. start.

In volleyball action Tuesday evening, the Hillsboro Lady Indians lost to the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers in three consecutive sets.
HHS lost by scores of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-16.
For the Lady Indians, senior Tylee Davis collected six kills, one assist, one ace and 15 digs. Sophomore Macy Fauber totaled one assist and eight digs.
Senior Marianne Mycroft finished with two digs. Junior Riley Pence ended the match with one kill and one block. HHS senior Scarlett Perkins finished with one dig and one block.
Hillsboro senior Josie Rhoades finished with one dig. Senior Ryan Wagoner totaled eight kills and 11 digs. Sophomore Emmalee Young had one kill, 12 assists and seven digs.
As a team, HHS had 17 kills, 17 assists, three aces, 45 digs and two blocks.
For Chillicothe, their team totals were 38 kills, 38 assists, five aces, 61 digs and 10 blocks.
Senior Evelyn Harman led CHS with 24 kills, while senior Isabella Witt led the Lady Cavs with 29 assists. Junior Josie Huddleston and Witte led CHS with two aces each. Junior Campbell McAllister was Chillicothe’s leader in digs with 21. Harman also led CHS with four blocks.
The loss moves HHS to 1-2 in the FAC and 6-3 overall. CHS is now 3-0 in the FC and 7-3 overall.
Next for HHS is a tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 19 at home against Western Brown and Zane Trace starting at 9 a.m.
