Hillsboro gains win over Portsmouth West

Traveling to Portsmouth on Monday, Jan. 12, the Hillsboro Indians earned a non-conference victory over the Portsmouth West Senators, 63-55. 

The Indians and Senators were tied 16-16 after the first quarter, but PWHS led the second frame at 15-10 for a halftime lead over Hillsboro 31-26. 

The Indians came out of the gate in the third for a 20-10 frame, putting the score at 46-41 in favor of the Indians. HHS won the fourth quarter at 17-14. 

Hillsboro was led in scoring by Jack Howland with 26 points, making five two-pointers, four 3-pointers, was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line, and he had six rebounds and two assists. 

Mason Dumpert finished with 12 points, making three 3-pointers, and he was 3-of-6 from the free-throw line. Dumpert also collected two rebounds, four assists and three steals. 

Brady Juillerat finished with eight points by making three two-point baskets, and he was also 2-of-3 from the free-throw line. Juillerat also had five rebounds, two assists and one steal. 

Also with eight points was Weston Kibler by making two 3-pointers and was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line. He also finished with one rebound and had one steal.

Jeven Hochstuhl ended the game with five points from a 3-pointer, and he made a two-pointer. Hochstuhl also had four rebounds, two assists and a steal. Dawson Barnett totaled three points (3-of-6 FT-line), and he had three rebounds. Easton Inman added a free throw for the Indians.

The Indians ended the game with nine two-pointers, 10 3-pointers, and they were 15-of-25 from the free-throw line. They also collected team totals of 22 rebounds (five offensive), 10 assists and six steals.
