Hillsboro earns 7-run win over Westfall

Traveling to face the Westfall Lady Mustangs on Wednesday, the Hillsboro Lady Indians won their non-conference contest by a 13-6 score. 

Hillsboro scored the first 10 runs of the game through the top of the third inning with three runs in the first, two runs in the second, and then came a five-run top of the third inning for a 10-0 lead. Westfall responded with two runs in the bottom of the third, followed by four runs in the fourth. 

The Lady Indians added three final runs in the top of the seventh for the seven-run win.

HHS totaled nine hits and three errors, while Westfall had eight hits and six errors. 

Peyton Spurlock led HHS at 3-for-4 with one run, a double, four RBI, and she was hit by a pitch. 

Rilynn Swisshelm went 2-for-4 with two runs and one walk. 

Addley Miller ended the game at 1-for-5 with three runs, two RBI and a double. Emory Zornes was 1-for-3 with two HBP. Paisley Zink was 1-for-3 with a run, a double, two steals and a HBP. Leah Vance finished 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Chloe Roberts totaled three runs and forced four walks. Blair Gard scored a run, walked once and had a steal. 

Spurlock pitched seven innings in the win with five earned runs and six strikeouts. 

The win improves the Lady Indians to an overall record of 7-15. 

HHS is scheduled to play again Thursday, May 7 on the road at Waynesville in a non-conference game at 5 p.m.
