Hillsboro continues to win in FAC action; defeats Chillicothe in all 5 matches
The Hillsboro Lady Indians stayed undefeated in Frontier Athletic Conference play on Thursday following a sweep of visiting Chillicothe for a 5-0 team win.
Hillsboro is now 5-0 in conference play, with the second-place team being Miami Trace with a 3-1 record. Chillicothe is now 1-3, Washington is now 0-2 and Jackson has a FAC mark of 0-3. HHS previously defeated Chillicothe on Aug. 11 at CHS by a 4-1 team score.
HHS also celebrated senior night, honoring their two seniors Adalyn Gaines and Ciara Woods.
In Thursday’s (Aug. 27) home win against the Lady Cavaliers, the Lady Indians gained a first singles victory by Gaines over Chillicothe junior Reese Miller by scores of 6-1, 6-2.
The second singles match was HHS junior Taylor-Ann Scruggs defeating Chillicothe sophomore Marley Lovett at 6-4, 6-3.
Hillsboro’s third singles match saw a winning performance from sophomore Breanna Anderson, who defeated CHS sophomore Sophia Montalvo in three sets with scores being 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.
The doubles matches included a first doubles win by Hillsboro with Woods and junior Kamrie Lee winning against Chillicothe sophomores Sophia McAdams and Avadia Knight at 6-1, 6-0.
Hillsboro’s second doubles win was the team of sophomore Kaylin Branscom and freshman Charlie Walch defeating Chillicothe sophomore Nelson and freshman Montgomery at 6-1, 6-4.
The next match for Hillsboro is an FAC contest on Tuesday, Sept. 1 on the road against Jackson at 4 p.m. Then, from there, it will be another FAC match on Thursday, Sept. 3 on the road at Washington with a 4:30 p.m. start.
