Buckeye Elite Basketball Showcase set for Jan. 18 at Shawnee State; Hillsboro among 2025 participants
Hillsboro, Chillicothe and Western Brown will be among the varsity boys basketball teams competing in the Buckeye Elite Basketball Showcase at Shawnee State University Saturday, Jan. 18.
The Buckeye Elite Basketball Showcase is the oldest running high school basketball event in southern Ohio, according to the showcase’s website.
Participants this year include Athens and Notre Dame girls and Chillicothe, Cincinnati Country Day, Coal Grove Dawson Bryant, Fairland, Greenup County (Ky.), Hillsboro, Minford, Portsmouth, Warren Local, Western Brown, Westfall and Wheelersburg boys varsity teams.
According to event organizer Tom Barrick, “This is an all-day event that will consist of seven varsity basketball games. There will be one varsity girls game and six varsity boys basketball.
“The BEBS is a locally run event geared toward highlighting some of the top teams, players, coaches and officials in southern Ohio. The profits from this event stay in southern Ohio and go to local charities.
“Admission for the event is only $6, and one ticket is good for all day. We have some great matchups during the day and feel this is going to be one of the best events in all southern Ohio. Our goal is to make this event a great experience for all the players, parents, students and fans that attend.”
