3 wins in a week for Hillsboro volleyball; defeat WCH, Western Brown and Zane Trace

On Thursday and twice on Saturday, the Hillsboro Lady Indians volleyball team earned wins on the court by defeating the Washington Lady Blue Lions, the Western Brown Lady Broncos and the Zane Trace Lady Pioneers. 

On (Sept. 17) HHS defeated the Washington Lady Blue in three straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-23 and 25-17 for the Frontier Athletic Conference win. 

HHS senior Paisley Zink had one kill and one dig. Sophomore Emmalee Young finished the win with three kills, 15 assists, one ace and 10 kills. The Lady Indians also had senior Ryan Wagoner end the contest with 11 kills, two aces, and 10 digs. 

Senior Josie Rhoades had one assist and six digs for Hillsboro. Fellow senior Scarlett Perkins ended the match by collecting two kills, five assists, three aces, and 10 digs. 

Hillsboro junior Riley Pence totaled two kills, one ace, and four digs. Senior Marianne Mycroft completed the match with one kill and one dig. Sophomore Macy Fauber had an ace and 10 digs. HHS senior Tylee Davis finished with six kills, one assist, four aces, and 15 digs. 

On Saturday (Sept. 19) the Lady Indians won a tri-match (best of three matches) against Western Brown and Zane Trace. 

HHS defeated Western Brown in three sets by scores of 25-15 in set two and 25-22 in set three. WBHS won the first set at 25-15. 

In this contest Davis totaled 11 kills, three assists, two aces, and 15 digs. Fauber finished with two aces and nine digs. Mycroft finished the match with one dig and one block. Pence totaled six kills, one dig and three blocks. 

Perkins finished with one kill, one assist, two aces, one dig and two blocks. Rhoades ended the match with two aces and four digs. Wagoner in the victory had three kills, four assists, and nine digs.

Young had four kills, 17 assists, 11 digs, and five blocks. Zink finished the match with one block. 

Then came a match against Zane Trace where Hillsboro won in two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-15. 

Rhoades for Hillsboro collected four aces and three digs. Perkins had one kill in the win. Pence totaled two kills, three aces, and one dig. Wagoner had five kills, one ace, and 10 digs. Mycroft finished the match with two digs. 

Young totaled 20 assists, three aces, and one dig. Fauber ended the contest with one ace and 10 digs. Davis finished the match with 11 kills and 10 digs. 

HHS is now 9-3 overall and 2-2 in the FAC. 

Next for HHS is a non-conference match against the Wilmington Lady Hurricane at WHS with a 6:30 p.m. start.
