The following are Highland County girls basketball (Hillsboro, Lynchburg-Clay, Fairfield and Whiteoak) recaps for Nov. 25-27.

Lynchburg-Clay falls in season opener to Portsmouth West
Opening the 2023-24 season on the road at the Manchester Tip-Off Classic, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs were defeated by Portsmouth West, 51-31.
The non-conference game saw the Lady Mustangs lead 8-7 after the first frame, but they were outscored 11-2 in the second quarter for a halftime deficit of 18-10.
LCHS was outscored in the final two quarters as well with a 21-13 third frame and 12-8 fourth quarter.
Jade Massey and Addison West each led the Lady Mustangs with nine points, followed by Madison McMullen with four points.
Scoring three points each were Macy Etienne, Ella Barry and Joslyn Rockey.
In all, the Lady Mustangs made three 3-pointers, with one each from Etienne, Massey and Rockey.
Barry, McMullen and West each led LCHS with three rebounds.
Etienne was the assists leader for LCHS in the game with four, and McMullen led the Lady Mustangs with three steals. Massey led the Lady Mustangs with two blocks.
As a team, LCHS totaled 18 rebounds, six assists, nine steals and three blocks. They also committed 22 turnovers.

Whiteoak loses season opener against Minford
The first game of the 2023-24 season for the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats was also the opener in the 2023 Manchester Tip-Off Classic, as WHS lost to the Minford Lady Falcons, 57-42.
WHS trailed 13-4 at the end of the first quarter, and from there they were outscored 17-9 in the second frame for a 30-13 halftime deficit.
WHS won the third frame at 13-12, and the fourth quarter at 16-15.
Kylee Hamm led the Lady ’Cats with 14 points, along with one 3-pointer, one rebound, one assist and one steal.
Lydia Carr finished with 11 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Addison Roberts ended the game with seven points, followed by Jaylie Parr with six points and Torie Potts with four points.
Potts also led WHS with nine rebounds, and she was the blocks leader with three.
As a team, WHS committed 21 turnovers, but also had three made 3-pointers from Hamm, Carr and Parr.
Also as a team, WHS was 13-of-16 from the free-throw line, with Carr finishing 6-of-6 and Hamm going 3-of-4.
Other final team totals for WHS included: 17 rebounds, seven assists, 11 steals and three blocks.

Hillsboro loses at Goshen
The Hillsboro Lady Indians fell in a non-conference game Saturday evening to the host Goshen Lady Warriors, 80-66.
HHS scored 12 points in the first quarter, but Goshen held an 11-point lead after the frame as they scored 23 points. The second quarter saw HHS outscore GHS, 21-14, but Goshen held the halftime advantage at 37-33.
GHS won the the third quarter at 20-17 and the fourth frame at 23-16 for the 14-point HHS loss.
Hillsboro was led in the scoring column by Addyson Miles with 15 points. Miles made three 3-pointers and three two-point baskets.
Kobie Miles and Tylee Davis finished with 12 points each, as Miles made three two-point baskets, a 3-pointer and was 3-of-3 from the free-throw line. Davis sank a two-point basket, two 3-pointers and was 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Also with double-figure scoring was Kyra Boyd with 10 points. Boyd made five two-point baskets. Other HHS scoring included Rylie Scott with nine points (one 3-pointer), Peighton Bledsoe with seven points and Blake Herdman with one point.
HHS is now 1-1 overall.

LCHS wins in OT against Peebles
The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs won in overtime in a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game at Peebles, 62-57.
LCHS outscored Peebles in OT, 7-2.
Peebles led 13-12 after the first quarter, and following a 17-13 second quarter in favor of the home team Peebles, Lynchburg-Clay trailed 30-25 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Peebles outscored Lynchburg-Clay, 18-14, but the fourth frame saw a comeback effort by LCHS, winning the frame 16-7, leaving the score tied at 55-55. The Lady Mustangs then won the aforementioned OT, 7-2.
LC now stands at 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the SHAC.

Whiteoak gains first win of season; dominates Manchester
Whiteoak went back to Manchester for their second game of the season, as this time they faced the home team Manchester Lady Greyhounds, and WHS left with a 72-40 Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory.
WHS led 22-10 at the conclusion of the opening quarter, then had another dominating quarter, outscoring the hosts, 18-6 for a halftime advantage of 40-16.
In the third quarter, WHS outscored Manchester 13-10, and the fourth frame saw Whiteoak score 19 points and Manchester score 13 points, giving Whiteoak a 32-point win.
Jaylie Parr led Whiteoak with 25 points, followed by Kylee Hamm with 11 points.
The rest of Whiteoak’s scoring in included: Lydia Carr (7), Torie Potts (8), Madison Thompson (5), Kelsey Monteith (2), Keira Campbell (3), Elly McMullen (6), Charli Hauke (2) and Addy Hauke (3).
Leading WHS in rebounds were Hamm with 13, giving her a double-double, and Carr with 11 boards.
Parr was the steals leader with four, and Campbell totaled two blocks to lead the team.
In all, WHS totaled 54 rebounds, 15 assists, 16 steals, three blocks and committed 15 turnovers. WHS also totaled 10 made 3-pointers with Parr sinking six, Elly McMullen with two, Carr with one and Campbell with one.
The win moves WHS to 1-1 overall this season and 1-0 in the SHAC.

Fairfield earns first win of season; defeats West Union by 18 points
The second game of the season was the result the Fairfield Lady Lions wanted as they earned their first victory of their 2023-24 season, and with that they gained a Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory as well.
Fairfield won at home by defeating the visiting West Union Lady Dragons, 65-47, and Faith Donley and Kelsey Clark combined for 50 of the 65 points scored by the Lady Lions.
Donley ended the game with 30 points, as the senior made 12 two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and three free throws. She also collected eight rebounds, two assists, eight steals and a block.
Clark finished with 20 points, with her points coming from eight two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, and one made free throw. She also collected six rebounds, one assists, four steals and one block.
Other FHS scoring included: Rilee Quickle (2), Kassi Miller (7), Jaeden Drury (2), McKinley Cox (2) and Isabelle Hale (2).
Miller also totaled six rebounds (and one 3-pointer), while Hale had four boards. In all, FHS totaled 35 rebounds, six assists, 20 steals and three blocks. They committed 18 turnovers.
The win moves Fairfield to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the SHAC.
