Hillsboro and McClain track and field teams compete at Marietta and Vinton County district meets
The Hillsboro Indians boys track and field team competed at Marietta College in the Division II District Meet, while the Hillsboro girls, McClain girls and McClain boys teams competed in the Division III District Meet at Vinton County High School on Monday (May 18) and Thursday (May 21).
Hillsboro’s Cooper Swope qualified for regionals in the 400-meter dash with a fourth-place finish with a time of 50.71. Swope, Kameron Evers, Foster Britton and Cameron Burkard in the 4x400m relay event also had a fourth-place finish with a time of 3:39.63.
For McClain, the girls team had Mylie Lovett qualify for regionals in the high jump event with a fourth-place jump of 5-2. Becca Bergstrom qualified for regionals in the pole vault event with a height of 10-4 for third place. McClain’s girls 4x400m relay team of Brooklyn Bolender, Larah Henson, Lila Banks and Becca Bergstrom had a time of 4:13.09 for fourth place.
Hillsboro’s girls team had Kobie Miles become a regional qualifier with a third-place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.85. Hillsboro also had their 4x100m relay team of Kailyn Jones, Quinn Swope, Alizeh Hudson and Meredith Dietrick with a fourth-place time of 51.98. Hillsboro’s 4x200m relay team of Meredith Dietrick, Quinn Swope, Alizeh Hudson and Kobie Miles placed fourth to qualify for regionals with a time of 1:49.32.
