Tigers split recent games with win over SEHS and loss to Jackson

Monday (April 20) saw the McClain Tigers fall in Frontier Athletic Conference play to the host Jackson Ironmen by a 3-0 score in Jackson.
McClain suffered a no-hitter in the loss as Jackson pitchers Rylan Wyant and Tanner Jenkins combined for the no-hitter. Wyant gained the win as he pitched six innings, allowing no runs on no hits and one walk with 12 strikeouts. Jenkins pitched one inning for the save, where he allowed no runs on no hits and no walks.
Jackson finished the game with seven hits and no errors, and MHS had one error.
Connor Chandler had the lone walk for the Tigers, and he pitched six innings, finishing with eight strikeouts with three earned runs. Carson Chandler reached the bases after being hit by a pitch.
Jackson scored their runs with two in the bottom of the third and one in the fifth inning.

McClain made a big comeback the following day in non-conference action as they won on Tuesday evening by a 13-4 score against the Southeastern Panthers at SEHS.
The Tigers got hot early with a four-run top of the first inning as they ended the first with a 4-1 lead. MHS added one run in both the second and third innings. Later, MHS scored three runs in the top of the sixth, while SEHS added a run in the bottom of the same inning for a 9-2 score.
The Tigers finished their scoring with a big four-run inning, while the Panthers scored two runs for the final nine-run win.
McClain totaled 14 hits and had four errors, while SEHS had six hits and two errors.
Jayce Storts finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and a walk.
Hunter Peabody was 2-for-4 with three runs, a walk and a steal. Carson Chandler finished 2-for-3 (a double) with three runs, two RBI, a steal and two walks.
Easton Ary was 2-for-4 with two runs, three RBI, one walk, a double and one steal. Kamden Penwell was 2-for-4 with one run, one RBI and one walk.
Connor Chandler finished 1-for-4 with two runs and a walk with two steals. Kolton Lamb ended the game at 1-for-3 with two runs, two walks, a double and two walks. Eli Douglas went 1-for-4 and was hit by a pitch.
Julian Swan had a steal for the Tigers. Matthew Cummins finished with one RBI and a steal.
Benny Vangundy pitched all seven innings for a complete-game win, as he allowed no earned runs on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts.
The Tigers now stand at 2-3 in the FAC and 9-5 overall.
MHS will play next Wednesday, April 22 at home against the Jackson Ironmen at 5 p.m. in an FAC rematch.
