Tigers have home loss to Unioto; gain win over Western Brown

In a weather-shortened game on Tuesday, May 13, the McClain Tigers lost a baseball contest against the visiting Unioto Shermans by a 7-0 score in six innings. 

The Tigers finished with two hits and had one error, while Unioto finished with eight hits and no errors. 

Hunter Peabody had one of the two hits for McClain, going 1-for-1 with a walk. Landen McNeal had the other Tigers hit, finishing 1-for-1 with a double. 

McClain also had Eli Douglas pitch two innings in relief, allowing no runs on three hits and two walks. 

Unioto scored two runs in the top of the first, followed by one run in the second and four runs in the third inning.

On Thursday (May 15) the Tigers rebounded with a 5-3 win over the Western Brown Broncos in non-conference action at WBHS. 

McClain (6-13) had a big performance at the plate with nine total hits, while the Broncos totaled four hits. 

In the field, MHS finished with one error and WBHS had none. 

Alex Perie led the way at the plate by going 3-for-3

Connor Chandler was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, plus he scored one run. Teammate Cohen Six also was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and one RBI. 

Kolton Lamb ended the game at 1-for-3 with a run and one RBI. The Tigers also had Eli Douglas go 1-for-3 with a run. 

Hudson Lovett collected an RBI, while Julian Swan scored a run for the Tigers. 

Chandler was the winning pitcher, pitching seven innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks with 10 strikeouts. 

MHS now stands at 6-13 overall.
