Tigers fall to Huntington by 2 runs

Playing on the road against the Huntington Huntsmen, the McClain Tigers lost a non-conference road game in Ross County to the host Huntsmen by a 4-2 score, Wednesday (April 2). 

Both teams scored a run in the first inning, and after each team was scoreless in the second, third and fourth innings, the two teams, again, each scored a run in the fifth inning for a 2-2 tied score. 

Huntington gained the walk-off win with two runs in the bottom of the seventh for the two-run victory over McClain. 

McClain finished the game with three hits, one walk and they committed three errors. Huntington totaled seven hits, two walks, and they committed two errors. 

McClain’s three hits were off the bats of Cohen Six and Hudson Lovett. 

Six finished 2-for-3 with one RBI and a steal. Lovett was 1-for-3 with one RBI as his hit was a triple. 

McClain also had Connor Chandler (9) score two runs and walk once. 

Six suffered the pitching loss, going six innings on the mound, allowing four runs (three runs) on seven hits and two walks. Six collected nine strikeouts, as he threw 102 pitches, 66 for strikes. 

The Tigers are now 1-2 overall.
