Tigers fall by 2 runs against Cavaliers

Facing Frontier Athletic Conference opponent Chillicothe on the road Monday evening, the McClain TIgers lost a close game by a 9-7 score. 

The Cavaliers of CHS started the game with three runs in the bottom of the first inning and later took a 5-0 lead with a two-run third. The fourth inning saw the Tigers score two runs in the top of the inning, but the Cavs answered with one run of their own in the bottom of the inning for a 6-2 lead. 

McClain had their best inning with five runs in the top of the fifth, and Chillicothe scored three runs in the inning for a 9-7 advantage as those were the final runs scored in the game. 

MHS finished the game with seven hits, and they committed three errors. Chillicothe had eight hits and one error. 

McClain saw Hunter Peabody lead the way at 3-for-3 with two runs and one walk. 

Carson Chandler was 1-for-2 with one run, three RBI, one hit-by-pitch and a walk. Easton Ary went 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI, and one walk. 

Eli Douglas was 1-for-2 with one run and a walk. The Tigers also had Matthew Cummins finish 1-for-3 with one run. 
Connor Chandler scored one run and was hit by a pitch. Kolton Lamb scored a run and forced a walk, and Kamden Penwell tallied one RBI and a walk. 

Douglas, Peabody, Lamb and Cummins each had a steal. 

Connor Chandler pitched 4.1 innings, charged with five earned runs with five strikeouts. Douglas pitched 0.2 innings with no runs, one walk and one strikeout. Carson Chandler pitched 1.0 inning with no runs and two strikeouts. 

Chillicothe was led by Conner Bolen at 3-for-3 with two runs, three RBI and a walk. 

The Tigers now stand at 3-1 overall.
