Tigers end season in district quarterfinals

The McClain Tigers gave all they had in their Division IV SE District quarterfinals game against the Unioto Shermans, but ultimately the Tigers lost to the host Unioto Shermans at UHS by a 4-2 score on Thursday, May 22.
McClain (7-14) trailed early at 1-0 after Unioto scored first with a run in the bottom of the second inning, but in the top of the third the Tigers answered with a run of their own for a 1-1 score.
In the top of the third, the Tigers McClain’s run was scored by Eli Douglas, as Hunter Peabody hit a two-out single for the 1-1 score.
MHS took the lead in the top of the fifth inning with a run when Hudson Lovett scored a run on a wild pitch, as Lovett initially reached the bases on a fielder’s choice.
The Sherman Tanks regained the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the sixth with a three-run inning.
McClain ended the game by hitting the Shermans 8-7, but MHS had one error while UHS had no errors.
The Tigers had a three-hit game from leadoff batter Connor Chandler, who was 3-for-4. Peabody finished 2-for-2 with one RBI and a walk.
McClain also had Cohen Six finish 1-for-4, and Kolton Lamb went 1-for-3. Also with a hit was Douglas at 1-for-3 with a run. Lovett finished with a run scored.
Six was the pitcher of record for McClain and was charged with the loss. Six in six innings allowed four earned runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts, throwing 103 pitches, 65 for strikes.
The Tigers end the 2025 season with an overall record of 7-14, as they were 2-8 in the Frontier Athletic Conference.
