McClain’s Kaylin Sterling medalist in ’25 girls golf season opener

The McClain Lady Tigers golf team opened the 2025 season by visiting the Goshen Lady Warriors at Deer Track Golf Course on Tuesday morning (July 29) in non-conference play. 

McClain’s Kaylin Sterling was the individual medalist for the season-opening event, while Goshen won the match. 

Sterling, a senior, finished the match against Goshen with a score of 41. Next for McClain was junior Autumn Uhrig with a 67 score. 

McClain also had senior Audrey Chamblin finish with a score of 68, while teammates Joanie Shrout (freshman) and Laycee Watson (sophomore) each carded a 70 score in the season opener. 

Goshen was led by senior Taylor Tilley with a score of 51, and next for the Lady Warriors was junior Lauren Gray at 52. 

The remaining Goshen scores were: senior Audry Maynard (61), junior Trinity Medley (62), senior Lorenza Rohrkemper (64), and junior Maria López (65). 

Both teams play again as part of the Adam Sharp Memorial McClain Invitational on Thursday, July 31 in Greenfield at Buckeye Hills.
