McClain Tigers end season in district quarterfinals

The McClain Tigers had their season come to an end on Thursday evening falling in their Division IV SE District Quarterfinal game against the No. 6 seeded Fairfield Union Falcons 69-51 at FUHS.
Both teams scored 11 points in the first quarter, and for the No. 11 seeded Tigers, Zane Adams scored six points in the first frame with six made free throws on seven attempts. Jordan Bell and Owen Sykes each scored two points in the first as each made a two-point basket, and Riley Cummins made one free throw in the first on two attempts.
Fairfield Union (12-11) outscored the Tigers 21-15 in the second. For the Tigers in the second quarter, Adams made two 3-pointers, Bell sank a 3-pointer and two-point basket, while Brandon Greene also made a 3-pointer, plus he made a free throw.
At halftime McClain trailed 32-26.
In the second half Fairfield Union scored 17 points in the third and 20 points in the fourth quarter. The Tigers had a 12-point third frame and 13-point fourth quarter.
The third frame for McClain (8-14) consisted of five points by Adams off a 3-pointer and two-point basket, one point by Cummins, a 3-pointer from Bell, a free throw made by Hudson Lovett, and Greene made a two-point basket.
McClain in the fourth quarter saw Adams make two 3-pointers, and go 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Bell made four free throws, and Greene made a free throw.
Team totals for MHS were five two-point baskets, eight 3-pointers, and they were 17-of-26 from the free-throw line.
Adams led the Tigers with 25 points for the game, finishing with one two-point basket, five 3-pointers, and he was 8-of-9 from the free-throw line.
Bell totaled 14 points with two two-point baskets, two 3-pointers, and he was 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Greene totaled seven points for McClain with a two-pointer, a 3-pointer, and he was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line.
Cummins and Sykes each scored two points for MHS, and Lovett finished with one point.
Jaxson Iser and Asa Kline led Fairfield Union with 16 points each. As a team the Falcons made 24 two-point baskets, three 3-pointers, and they went 12-of-21 from the free-throw line.
