McClain baseball shut out by Miami Trace on consecutive days

The McClain Tigers played a home-and-home two-game series against the Miami Trace Panthers on Monday and Tuesday (April 7-8), with the Panthers winning both contests by scores of 11-0 and 8-0 in Frontier Athletic Conference action. 

The Panthers on Monday (April 7) defeated McClain 11-0, with MTHS gaining seven hits and committing no errors. The Tigers totaled one hit and committed five errors. 

McClain’s lone hit was off the bat of Cohen Six, plus he also had a steal. 

Six was also charged with the pitching loss, going four innings on the mound, allowing five earned runs on five hits and three walks with 83 pitches, 50 for strikes. 

Also pitching for MHS was Hunter Peabody, who allowed two runs (none earned) on two hits and two walks. Peabody threw 38 pitches, 23 for strikes.

On Tuesday, the Tigers traveled to Fayette County to face the Panthers in their second consecutive FAC game, where MTHS won at their home field by an 8-0 score. 

The Panthers scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth, followed by another four-run inning in the bottom of the third inning. 

MTHS totaled nine hits and committed one error. MHS had two hits and one error. 

Alex Perie and Eli Douglas each had a hit for McClain. Perie was 1-for-3, and Douglas also went 1-for-3. Cohen Six walked twice, and Carson Chandler also had a walk. 

Six and Douglas each had a stolen base. 

Connor Chandler was charged with the pitching loss, finishing with four strikeouts. Also pitching for MHS were Easton Ary and Matthew Cummins. 

The two losses leave McClain at 1-4 overall.
