Late innings get away from McClain against Jackson

Playing against the Jackson Ironladies for a second consecutive day, the McClain Lady Tigers on Wednesday (April 2) lost at home to the visitors by a 15-3 score in their seven-inning Frontier Athletic Conference game. 

Jackson gained the early 2-0 lead with two runs in the top of the first inning, and then it became a 5-0 lead with three runs in the top of the third. 

McClain added a run in the bottom of the fourth, but the fifth, sixth and seventh innings saw JHS score 10 runs with a three-run fifth, three-run sixth and four-run seventh inning. The Lady Tigers scored their final two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. 

MHS ended the game with 10 hits and three errors, while Jackson had 17 hits and two errors. 

The Lady Tigers had four players each have two hits and two players with one hit apiece. 

Lindsey Hutchinson finished 2-for-4 with one RBI, followed by Brie Cummins who was also 2-for-4. Kenzie Wise finished the game 2-for-3 with one run, and Milla Everetts was 2-for-2 with a double and one run. 

Having one hit each were Olivia Stegbauer, who was 1-for-4, and Leah Lovett, who also went 1-for-4. Hayley Worthen scored a run for McClain, and she was hit by a pitch, plus she added two stolen bases. 

Worthen pitched three innings for MHS, and Kyndee Williams went four innings in the circle, totaling two strikeouts.  

The loss moves McClain’s overall record to 2-3 and their FAC record to 0-2.
