Lady Tigers walk off on Wednesday vs. Miami Trace; split season series

On Wednesday the McClain Lady Tigers battled back with a seven-run inning as they trailed by six runs entering the bottom of the seventh inning, walking off against the visiting Miami Trace Lady Panthers by a 13-12 score in Greenfield.
McClain (3-4) led 1-0 after the first inning, then held a 3-0 lead once the second inning was complete. Miami Trace battled back with a four-run top of the third, and MHS answered with one run in the bottom of the same inning for a 4-4 score.
After each team was scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings, Miami Trace regained the lead with six runs in the top of the sixth, and McClain answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 10-6 deficit. The Lady Panthers added two runs to their run total in the top of the seventh, but then came the game-winning bottom of the seventh inning where McClain earned the Frontier Athletic Conference victory.
The bottom of the seventh started with a walk by Leah Lovett on five pitches, followed by a Kenzi Wise walk. Next was the first out recorded, but Amaya Ryan had an infield single to load the bases with one out. Next came a base hit by Kyndee Williams, scoring Lovett, while advancing Wise and Ryan third and second bases.
Emma Posey followed with a single hit to centerfield, scoring Wise from third base, bringing MHS to within four runs of Miami Trace. After the second out of the inning was recorded, Brie Cummins came through with a line drive hit to right field, scoring all three runners (Ryan, Williams, Posey) for a 12-11 score as MHS was within one run of tying the game.
With Cummins on third, Olivia Stegbauer blasted a two-run home run over the centerfield fence for the walk-off win by the 13-12 score.
For the game, MHS totaled 14 hits and committed three errors, while Miami Trace had eight hits and one error.
Ryan finished 3-for-3 with a double, three runs, one RBI and one walk. Posey was 2-for-2 with one run and two RBI. Milla Everetts finished 2-for-5 with a double, one run and two RBI. Cummins ended the day at 2-for-5 with a triple, one run, one steal and four RBI.
Stegbauer was 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, two RBI and one walk. Teammate Lovett was 1-for-3 with one run, a steal and a walk. Wise finished 1-for-3 with a run, one RBI and a walk. Hayley Worthen went 1-for-2 with a run, and Williams was 1-for-2 with a run and one RBI. Lindsey Hutchinson scored one run for MHS and had a steal.
Cummins pitched six innings, allowing six earned runs on seven hits and she totaled eight strikeouts in the win. Williams pitched one inning, allowing no runs on one hit and she had one strikeout.

On Tuesday (April 8) the McClain Lady Tigers lost at Miami Trace by a 10-7 score at Miami Trace High School in FAC action.
MTHS led 3-2 after the first inning, and following McClain scoring three runs in the top of the first, and MTHS scoring one run in the bottom of the third, it was McClain and Miami Trace tied at 5-5.
The Lady Panthers scored one run in the bottom of the fourth and each team scored a run in the fifth for a 7-6 MTHS lead.
In the top of the sixth, McClain scored one run, and Miami Trace scored three runs for the final scoring of the game and the 10-7 win over the Lady Tigers.
McClain finished the game with 12 hits and two errors, while Miami Trace totaled 15 hits and they had three errors.
Brie Cummins led MHS with a 4-for-4 day at the plate, totaling a double, a triple, three runs and one RBI. Milla Everetts was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Also with three hits was Leah Lovett, finishing 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Olivia Stegbauer finished 1-for-4 with a double, one run and two RBI. Amaya Ryan went 1-for-4, while Hutchinson had one run and a walk.
Having steals were Cummins, Hutchinson and Lovett (three steals).
Hayley Worthen pitched four innings, allowing five earned runs on eight hits, four walks, and she had three strikeouts. Kyndee Williams pitched two innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and no walks, with three strikeouts.
