Lady Tigers volleyball plays in 3 recent matches

The McClain Lady Tigers faced the Zane Trace Lady Pioneers on Thursday (Aug. 27), then followed that on Saturday (Aug. 29) with two matches in a home tri-match contest against the Fairfield Lady Lions and East Clinton Lady Astros.
On Thursday at Zane Trace, the Lady Tigers lost in three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-14 and 25-3 against ZTHS of the strong Scioto Valley Conference.
McClain had some positive moments in the match with sophomore Brynlee Karnes leading the team with seven kills, as she was followed in kills by junior Alaya Jackson with five. MHS also had junior Brooklyn Bolender with two kills, and with one kill each were senior Adalynn Snyder and sophomore Allie Havens.
Bolender and Jackson each had an ace for McClain against Zane Trace. Karnes led MHS with two blocks, and Jackson finished with one.
McClain totaled 23 digs with Bolender with six, Snyder with five, and having three digs each were Karnes and Jackson. Also recording digs was sophomore Brylee Douglas with two. Finishing with one dig each were freshman Ava Mankin, senior Shelby Wise, senior Molly McCune and Havens.
Havens led McClain with 10 assists, while McCune totaled four assists, and with two assists was Jackson.
On Saturday (Aug. 29), they lost a best-of-three match in two sets at 25-20 and 25-19.
Against Fairfield, Karnes led McClain with seven kills, while teammates had the following kill totals: Bolender (four), Jackson (three) and Snyder (one).
Boldener led the Lady Tigers with three aces, while Karnes totaled two. Karnes also had two blocks to lead MHS, while Jackson also had one block. Bolender led McClain with four digs, while Karnes had two and with one dig each were Snyder, Wise, McCune, Jackson and Havens.
Havnes was McClain’s leader in assists with 12, while McCune had five assists.
In their second contest of the tri-match, McClain lost to East Clinton in two sets (best-of-three) by scores of 26-24 and 25-17.
McClain had 17 kills against ECHS with Karnes leading with eight, followed by Jackson (four), Douglas (two), Snyder (two) and Bolender (one).
MHS also had three blocks with Karnes having two and Jackson finished with one block.
McClain is now 1-5 overall.
Next for the Lady Tigers is a Frontier Athletic Conference match on Tuesday, Sept. 1 on the road against the Miami Trace Lady Panthers (2-2) at MTHS.
