Lady Tigers suffer home loss to Amanda-Clearcreek

GREENFIELD — The McClain Lady Tigers suffered their first loss of the season on Thursday (March 27) at home against the Amanda-Clearcreek Lady Aces by a 12-10 score at Daryle Unger Field.
ACC finished the game with 16 hits and two errors, while McClain totaled 11 hits and one error.
The Lady Aces led 1-0 after the first inning, and 3-0 when the top of the third was completed after adding two more runs. McClain came back with an eight-run bottom of the third, for an 8-3 lead.
From there ACC responded with one run in the top of the fourth, two runs in the top of the fifth, and two more runs in the top of the sixth for an 8-8 tied score.
The Lady Tigers answered with one run in the bottom of the sixth for a 9-8 advantage, but ACC battled back with a four-run top of the seventh for a 12-9 lead. MHS added one run in the bottom of the seventh as they lost by two runs.
McClain saw Leah Lovett lead at the plate as she went 3-for-4 with one run, and one RBI, collecting a double and home run against ACC with the solo homer coming in the bottom of the third inning.
Lindsey Hutchinson was 2-for-3 with two runs and two walks, plus she added a stolen base for the Lady Tigers.
Also with two hits was Olivia Stegbauer, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI with both of her hits being doubles.
Going 1-for-3 was Brie Cummins, finishing with one run, one RBI, two walks, and a steal. The Lady Tigers also had Cami Gall score one run and collect an RBI. Sarah Easter finished with one run and a walk for MHS.
Amaya Ryan finished the game at 1-for-3 with a run, one RBI and a walk. Also for MHS, Kenzie Wise went 1-for-4 with one RBI as her hit was a double. Milla Everetts finished the game at 1-for-1 with one run and a steal.
The Lady Tigers saw one of their top players suffer an injury during the game as standout pitcher and batter Gall suffered a leg injury in the top of the sixth, with one out, after pitching 2.1 innings of relief as she didn’t return to the game. Gall in her outing had one strikeout and allowed four earned runs.
Hayley Worthen pitched 4.2 innings as a starting pitcher and returning to the game after Gall’s injury. She allowed six earned runs and had one strikeout. Each pitcher walked two batters.
The loss sends McClain to a 2-1 overall record.
Next for the Lady Tigers is a Frontier Athletic Conference game on Monday, March 31 at home vs. the Jackson Ironladies at 5 p.m. at Daryle Unger Field in Greenfield.
