Lions score 17 runs in win over Ripley
The Fairfield Lions earned a dominant victory in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference Tuesday night by defeating the host Ripley Blue Jays 17-0 in five innings.
The April 23 win at RHS saw the Lions score early and often with a seven-run top of the first inning, then they followed it with a five-run second inning and four more runs in the top of the third. Fairfield added one final run in the top of the fifth inning.
FHS finished the game with 13 hits and committed three errors, and Ripley totaled one hit and had four errors.
Blaine Fauber led Fairfield with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, totaling four runs, and three RBI. Carson Chandler was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while teammate Wyatt Willey was 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
The Lions also had Zane Matthews finish 2-for-4 with a run and one RBI. Also for FHS, Cade Miller went 2-for-3 with a run and one RBI.
Gabe Fouch finished the game with one run and two walks. Heath Flint forced a walk in the win, while Otis Cockerill scored one run, collected an RBI and walked twice.
Fairfield also collected six extra-base hits, as Fauber, Willey, Miller, Chandler, Frost and Campbell all hit a double.
Fauber was also hit by a pitch, and collecting steals were Willey, Miller, Frost and Campbell.
Willey was the winning pitcher, finishing the game with five innings pitched, allowing no runs with one hit and four walks, with eight strikeouts. Willey totaled 80 pitches, 47 for strikes.
The win sends Fairfield to a 10-3 overall record and 7-2 record in the SHAC.
