Cameron Miller K’s 16 batters in Lions win over West Union

Scoring runs in the fourth and sixth innings, the Fairfield Lions gained a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win Monday evening against the West Union Dragons by a 5-1 score at Fairfield High School. 

Fairfield’s runs came with one in the bottom of the fourth, followed by four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, breaking a 1-1 tied score as WUHS scored their lone run in the top of the sixth inning. 

FHS totaled two hits and had one error, while WUHS had one hit and two errors. 

Fairfield’s hits were from Caleb Rice (1-for-3, one run) and Cameron Miller (1-for-3, two runs).

Ben Miller scored one run and walked once. Teammate Zane Collins scored one run, had one steal and walked once. Greyson Abbott walked once, and Weston Baldwin also forced a walk for the Lions and was hit by a pitch. 

Cameron Miller was the winning pitcher with seven innings pitched, allowing no earned runs on one hit and four walks with 16 strikeouts. Miller threw 109 pitches, 66 for strikes, as he faced 27 batters. 

The win gives the Lions a 2-4 overall record.
