Fairfield sweeps Whiteoak in 3-set SHAC match
Wednesday (Aug. 20) the Fairfield Lady Lions took home a Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory, defeating the host Whiteoak Lady Wildcats in three straight sets at WHS.
FHS won by scores of 27-25, 25-18 and 25-19.
The winning Lady Lions saw senior Mackenzie Anderson total four kills, 27 assists, three aces, 12 digs and one block. FHS also had sophomore Alyssa Bales have one assist, one ace and a team-best 16 digs.
Senior McKinley Cox of Fairfield totaled five kills, one assist, one ace, four digs and a block. The Lady Lions also had senior Jobey Hattan total a team-high 17 kills, two assists, two aces and 11 digs.
Also for the Lady Lions, freshman Jorja May had one kill, two aces and five digs. Sophomore Remi Moon collected eight kills, four assists, three aces and 12 digs.
In all, the Lady Lions finished with 60 digs, 35 kills, 35 assists, 12 aces and two blocks.
For Whiteoak, sophomore Kathryn Cox ended the game with three kills, one ace and eight digs. Freshman Oakley Engle had one ace, while teammate junior Marley Gobin had one kill and one dig.
WHS also had senior Kylee Hamm end her day with six kills, two assists, 15 digs and one block. Whiteoak had sophomore Charli Hauke end the match with one kill, while senior Elly McMullen finished with one ace and 15 digs.
Whiteoak also had senior Addison Roberts total two kills, eight assists, two aces and seven digs. Kylee Ruark (a sophomore) finished with one kill, one assist and one dig, The Lady ‘Cats also had senior Madison Schrum finish with two assists, one ace and 12 digs.
WHS as a team finished with 59 digs, 14 kills, 13 assists, six aces and one block.
Fairfield (2-0, 3-0) is scheduled to play Monday, Aug. 26 at home against Highland County counterpart, the McClain Lady Tigers with JV starting at 5:30 p.m.
WHS (0-2, 0-4) is scheduled to play again Monday, Aug. 26 on the road at Paint Valley with a 5:30 p.m. JV start time.

On Tuesday, Aug. 20, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost in three sets to the Fayetteville Lady Rockets at Fayetteville High School.
The SHAC match saw Whiteoak lose by scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-22.
WHS finished with 21 kills, 21 assists, four aces, 37 digs and three blocks.
The Lady ’Cats were led by Hamm with 10 kills, while the assists leader was Roberts with 17. Hamm also led WHS with two aces, and she was the leader in digs with 14. WHS had three players each with one block (Gobin, Roberts, Ruark).
