Wilmington College to present the Dayton Jazz Orchestra in concert
The Dayton Jazz Orchestra is heralded as the Miami Valley’s premier jazz ensemble for presenting the exciting sounds of modern and traditional big band music. Wilmington College’s Music Department is hosting their appearance on campus on March 3, at 7 p.m., in Hugh G. Heiland Theatre.
The event is free and open to the public.
The 16-piece jazz orchestra assembled in 1993 as a music reading ensemble and features some the of best musicians in the Dayton community playing selections from the music libraries of jazz greats like Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Bob Mintzer, Rob McConnell and Duke Ellington.
The DJO presents concerts and educational clinics throughout the Dayton area and plans to conduct a clinic/workshop with WC’s band students earlier that afternoon.
