Senior Center quilt show a 'marvelous' success

We had a marvelous quilt show Aug. 6 -7. There were around 150 large quilts and many small wall hangings of all colors, styles and sizes. Categories included: antique, hand appliqued, machine quilted, hand pieced, machine pieced, quilted and many more.
There were seven vendors selling fabric, patterns, quilting kits, and other items. It was a wonderful show that was enjoyed by many quilters and non-quilters, alike.
On Aug. 8 we had Charles Colliver give a demonstration on woodcarving at 1 p.m.
Come join us for a “Cook Off” on Friday, Aug. 19 at 11:30 a.m. Bring your favorite casserole, salad or dessert. There will be prizes for each category. After judging and prizes are awarded, we will have dinner and enjoy all the delicious food.
Anyone who does not bring a dish to enter in the contest will be charged $3 to eat. This is a fundraiser for the center, and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy.
We are having a “Summer Fling” dinner dance on Saturday, Aug. 20 that will feature the Sunshine Band from 5-9 p.m., and other center activities. Advance reservations are $5, and $6 at the door. The public is invited to attend.
The Highland County Senior Center will be closed the week of Sept. 5-9 for the Highland County Fair. During that time the center will undergo some remodeling and maintenance.[[In-content Ad]]
