The District 13-OH6 Lions Convention was held April 26-27 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Blue Ash. This convention is for all the Lions clubs in southwestern Ohio. One of the most prestigious awards is the “Lion of the Year” award that is presented to one Lion in each Zone.

Lion Roger Pence from the Martinsville Lions Club was named Lion of the Year for Zone 7. He received a special trophy and was introduced at the annual awards banquet.

Pence was then named the overall Lion of the Year for the entire District, having been selected from the nine Zone winners.

Lion Pence is also an associate member of the Lynchburg Lions Club, and he was nominated for the award by the Lynchburg club. Pence has been a key member in nearly every project the Martinsville club conducts. He has served as Club Secretary for many years and has helped with numerous special service projects. He has also assisted the Lynchburg club for several years with its annual candy sale.
