Premier Showmen 4-H Club members attended the Highland County Cattlemen’s Banquet on April 1.

The youth of the club had the opportunity to hear from several guest speakers about the agricultural industry.

The evening began with Cattlemen’s President Dwight Hamilton welcoming guests. Guest speaker Ty Hamilton then spoke about upcoming changes for the 2026 Highland County Fair and how the growing tick population is impacting the cattle industry. The program was followed by a delicious steak dinner.

After dinner, guests heard from Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Brian Baldridge, who discussed the cattle industry in Ohio and Highland County, as well as the overall importance of agriculture to the state. Ohio Cattlemen’s Association President Lindsey Grimes spoke about the value of the organization and encouraged membership.

Ohio FFA President Carter Boyd shared how the cattle industry has influenced his life, highlighting the friendships and relationships he has built through his involvement in the beef industry. Shannon Yochum also spoke about the Fall Showdown Series and encouraged participation in the upcoming year.

Following the guest speakers, Premier Showmen member Landry Teeter, serving as the 2025 Beef Queen, and Bexley Mustard, serving as the 2025 Princess, gave their end-of-service addresses. They reflected on the events they participated in throughout the year and the relationships they built while promoting the importance of the beef industry within the community.

Natalie Hamilton then crowned the 2026 Queen and Princess. The evening concluded with the announcement of scholarship winners and the annual steak auction, which helps raise funds to support the youth of Highland County.
